Poll of the Day: Americans Aren't Isolationists

A short analysis on the recent Gallup poll
Poll of the Day: Americans Aren't Isolationists

Donald Trump recently withdrew the US from 66 international organizations and treaties, increasing his isolationist foreign policy. At the same time, he struck Venezuela and captured Maduro, an extremely interventionist move. Trump’s bipolar policy that switches between wanting “America First” policies and extreme international involvement has left the global community dazed and unable to predict his next move.

A recent Gallup poll indicates that 66% of Americans believe the US should take a leading/major role in world affairs. Only 3% of Americans support complete isolationism, saying the US should play no role at all in foreign affairs. Although many will claim to be “America First” and support economic protectionism and nationalism, the American populace still largely supports the US playing an active role on the global state.
